The Consortium for Professional Security Officer Standards and Training (PSOST) operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (waiting IRS approval).
PSOST develops security officer competency standards, security training programs and security operations policies used for certifying security officers, security trainers and security departments, which support the security industry, organizations that employ security officers, and individual security officers.
We gather supporting data that helps us define the protective principles, policies, personnel and competency standards that define a “Professional Security Officer” (PSO), a “Professional Security Trainer” (PST) and a Professional Security Department.” (PSD) These certifications assure consumers who shop or seek services in healthcare, educational and retail settings, and the employees that serve them, that security personnel will provide high levels of personal protection and safety.
Our work would not continue without generous donor contributions. Donations are used to educate the public, for research and for developing and publishing written materials to support the security industry, organizations that employ security officers, and individual security officers.
This cultural change will require a sustained educational program to help organizations see the benefits of employing competent security officers. Your gift will help us educate private organizations on the importance of establishing competency standards for the security officers they employ.
