Consortium for Professional Security Officer Standards and Training

Security Stanadards

Currently there is no reliable methodology to determine, evaluate, rank or judge many current security practices, including training and trainer standards. Naturally, this has led to an individualized (non-standardized) approach to "standards." In other words, the lack of unifying standards has become "the standard!" However, in highly professionalized industries there is a high degree of consensus among its leaders on best practices or standards. Unfortunately, the lack of consensus among security industry leaders and the organizations that employ uniformed security officers continues to impede the industry's professionalization process. PSOST, and its consortium of subject matter experts, has set out to create a reliable methodology for determining the "best" ideas and subsequently the best practices and standards.
